Reaching out to multicultural communities in their language
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia wanted to reach out to multicultural communities in their first language. They engaged Cloudmaker Consulting to develop a series of resources in the five most commonly spoken languages other than English in Australia.
Three resources: What you need to know about prostate cancer, Support groups for people affected by prostate cancer and Caring for someone with prostate cancer were initially developed in English and then, working closely with translators and cultural appropriateness specialists, translated into Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese. The creative concept involved illustrations of real members of PCFA’s community by one of Australia’s leading illustrators Lew Keilar.
We managed the tender process to appoint an appropriate agency to work on the translation, wrote the copy, managed the expert advisory panel review and approval process, and briefed and managed the design, production and translation processes.
The new leaflets were launched in September 2014 at The Mint in Sydney, along with PCFA's 2014 Community Attitudes Survey.
